Technology in Use

(Growing list)

Diode Laser

The Diode Laser is a gold-standard technology for permanent hair reduction, emitting a focused light beam—typically at 755 nm, 810 nm, or 1064 nm—that selectively targets melanin in hair follicles. Through a process called selective photothermolysis, the laser energy heats and destroys the follicle without damaging surrounding skin tissue (Array Medical, 2024; Lumenis, 2023).

Modern diode systems feature adjustable pulse duration, spot sizes, and cooling technologies (like sapphire tip contact cooling), making them suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types, including darker tones (PerfectLasers, 2025). Devices often include Super Hair Removal (SHR) modes for fast, low-pain treatment.

Highlights

  • Safe and effective for all skin types (Fitzpatrick I–VI)

  • Large spot sizes for fast coverage

  • Lifespan of over 100 million pulses per handpiece

Picosecond Laser

The Picosecond Laser is an advanced skin treatment solution used for tattoo removal, pigmentation correction, acne scars, and skin rejuvenation. It delivers ultra-short pulses of laser energy in the picosecond range (one trillionth of a second), which break down pigment particles through photoacoustic (non-thermal) impact rather than heat (Allure, 2024).

Compared to traditional nanosecond (Q-switched) lasers, picosecond lasers are more efficient in shattering ink or melanin clusters while minimizing damage to surrounding tissues (Allure, 2024). It also stimulates collagen production, helping improve texture and elasticity, especially when combined with a fractional lens array.

Highlights

  • More effective and safer for darker skin tones than traditional lasers

  • Excellent for both epidermal and dermal pigmentation

  • Clinically proven improvement in acne scars (up to 70%) after 3–5 sessions

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive, broad-spectrum light therapy used to treat sun damage, vascular lesions, pigmentation, and even mild hair reduction. Unlike lasers that emit a single wavelength, IPL uses a range of light wavelengths (typically 500–1200 nm) that can be filtered to target different chromophores like melanin and hemoglobin (Wikipedia, 2025).

This versatility makes IPL ideal for skin rejuvenation, rosacea, age spots, and post-inflammatory erythema, often with little to no downtime. However, it is best suited for lighter skin tones due to its broadband nature.

Highlights

  • Improves skin tone, texture, and clarity

  • Treats multiple skin concerns in a single session

  • Minimal downtime and discomfort

Fractional CO2 Laser

The Fractional CO₂ Laser is a powerful resurfacing technology ideal for treating deep wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, and skin laxity. It works by creating microscopic thermal zones in a fractional pattern, ablating damaged skin and stimulating collagen synthesis in the deeper dermis (Lumenis, 2024).

This fractional approach allows for faster healing than traditional ablative lasers, while still delivering dramatic results in skin smoothing and tightening. The laser’s wavelength (10,600 nm) is highly absorbed by water, making it ideal for precise skin vaporization with controlled depth.

Highlights

  • Gold standard for severe acne scars and deep wrinkles

  • Fractional delivery reduces healing time compared to traditional full-field CO₂

  • Results in smoother, firmer skin after 1–2 treatments

RF (Radio Frequency)

Radio Frequency (RF) is a non-invasive skin tightening and contouring technology that uses high-frequency electrical energy to heat the dermis to approximately 65–75°C, stimulating collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production (Wikipedia, 2025).

RF treatments can be delivered via monopolar, bipolar, or fractional microneedling devices (e.g., Morpheus8, Scarlet RF). The depth of penetration depends on the system, allowing it to target wrinkles, sagging skin, and even subcutaneous fat without damaging the skin’s surface.

Clinical studies confirm that RF-induced heating leads to tissue contraction, improved texture, and gradual lifting, making it one of the safest anti-aging methods for all skin types (Allure, 2024).

Highlights

  • Tightens and lifts skin with no downtime

  • Safe for all skin colors and types

  • Can be combined with microneedling for deeper remodeling
